Inspired by Prokofiev's \u003cem\u003ePeter and the Wolf\u003c\/em\u003e , the work uses the same combination of instruments, and uses instruments to represent particular characters.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eIt was commissioned by the Philharmonia Orchestra, Three Choirs Festival Association, Docklands Sinfonia, Royal Liverpool Philharmonic and Royal Scottish National Orchestra.
